Privacy Policy — Unit Converter

This policy explains what data the Unit Converter iOS app (the "App") handles, and how. The short version: the App has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your data stays on your device.

1. Data stored on your device only

The following is created by your use of the App and stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to us and we cannot access it:

  • Conversion history (values, units, timestamps)
  • Favourites (categories and unit pairs)
  • Recent conversions and recent searches
  • Settings (language, theme, decimal places, number format)
  • Subscription entitlement cache and review-prompt counters
  • A cached copy of exchange rates

Deleting the App permanently deletes all of this data. You can also clear history and recents in the App at any time. If you export your history to CSV or PDF, the exported file is created on your device and shared only where you choose to send it.

2. Data sent over the network

Exchange rates. To show current currency rates, the App periodically requests a rates file from our rates service (a Cloudflare Worker we operate). This request contains no account details, no device identifiers, and none of your conversion data. Like any web request, it necessarily exposes your IP address and basic request metadata to our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), which may process it transiently for routing and security. We do not log, store, or analyse this information. Rate data originates from Open Exchange Rates; your device never communicates with them directly.

The App makes no other network requests on its own.

3. Purchases (Apple)

Plus subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your name, payment details, or billing address. Apple provides the App with an anonymised transaction record used solely to unlock Plus features on your device. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Feedback and bug-report forms (Google)

The App's Settings offer optional feedback and bug-report forms hosted on Google Forms, displayed in a web view. If you choose to submit a form, the information you enter (and data Google collects when serving the form, such as IP address and cookies) is processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. We receive only the answers you submit. Do not include sensitive personal information in these forms. If you contact us by email instead, we use your email address and message solely to respond.

5. Legal bases (UK GDPR)

Where data processing occurs, our lawful bases are: performance of a contract (serving exchange rates you request, responding to your support requests) and legitimate interests (keeping our rates service secure and operational). We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making, and we never sell data.

6. Your rights

Because we hold essentially no personal data about you, most requests can be fulfilled by you directly: your data lives on your device and is deleted with the App. You nonetheless have the rights under UK GDPR to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing of any personal data we hold (for example, support emails), and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office or your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, email contact@michebi.com.

7. Children

The App does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. It is suitable for general audiences.

8. Data retention

Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Transient infrastructure logs at our provider are governed by Cloudflare's retention practices. Everything else lives on your device, under your control.

9. International transfers

Our rates service runs on Cloudflare's global network, so the server answering your rate request may be located outside the UK. The request contains no personal data beyond routing metadata (such as IP address), and Cloudflare maintains appropriate safeguards for such processing.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App. If a future version of the App ever collects new categories of data, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated first.
